One night in Bangkok and The impending Hangover.
You know how when you watch a movie that takes place somewhere you´ve never been, its almost like its just imaginary, like it doesn´t really matter how accurate it is? But when you see a movie that was filmed somewhere you know, there´s the constant recognition of familiar streets, landmarks and sometimes even people! Of course there´s also the movies that supposedly take place somewhere but are filmed in a completely different similar looking place…and you actually know the place where its supposed to be….its so nerve racking!!! Artistic license its called…I call it cheating! Ok ok, sometimes its so similar you can´t really tell…kudos to those cinematographers and the producers of course who found the almost exact place!
THE HANGOVER
So, I´d like to tell you how extremely different it was to watch The Hangover 2 when it came out, and how it was to watch it last night. Its pretty much all filmed in Bangkok, expect some scenes in a resort on the Gulf of Thailand. We recognized almost every location, some indoor scenes obviously not, but a lot of the action takes place in Soi Cowboy, half a block from my condo, I think I even recognized some of the girls and street vendors. Nothing like when I watched the last Indiana Jones and Peru was a mix all South American countries and other ghastly artistic licenses that had me yelling at the screen. I really liked the almost last scene of The Hangover 2 when Mike Tyson sings an 80´s song about Bangkok…One night in Bangkok! We looked for the video, and the lyrics, so awesome!
